Some changes in my collection

I`m selling right now a few boxes on ebay: Galxy Defenders with the expansions and two Kickstarter exclusive agents. After another try, I decided it´s simply not my game and games should be played, so I give it away. In addition I give away Ghost Stories and the White Moon expansion. Not a bad game, very beutiful, but I find it too frustrating mostly, and I don´t like the expansion at all. Galactic Strike Force also had to go: Big disappointment.

Now, in addition, I had some money left, so I did spend 400€ for four games, 370€ for three of them! I know it´s pretty crazy, but  these three are real gems!

The first one arrived today:

The second one, and the one I´m most excited about, arrived today from Spain!

Very cool. I’m watching your video about these games right now.

Hi! Awesome stuff! Where on earth did you get Here I stand? It is OOp and sold out most places 🙂

    • A lonesome Gamer says:

Yes…I was lucky. I got it from Ebay for 85 €, wich is a fair price. It´s new and even the Deluxe edition!

      • The Late Night Gamer says:

I just ordered Virgin Queen which is the sequel to Here I stand. I have Greenland already and BIOS megafauna which is the sequel to American Megafauna. Seems we are heading in the same direction, more or less 🙂

  • Stasia says:

Some great games there, Johannes! I look forward to seeing playthroughs at some point (hint, hint).

    • A lonesome Gamer says:

      Hi Stasia!
I didn´t thought these were the type of games you´d enjoy 😉
But yes, I´m also eager to try them.

  • John says:

what is you ebay name? are your games still for sale/give away? (It was kinda confusing what you were doing.)
    thanks

    • A lonesome Gamer says:

      Hi John!
They are nearly all gone….Galaxy Defenders gave me a last disappointment: I had to sell it for only 35€! I`ve lost 50 bugs! 🙁
The only one still available is Ghost Stories – White Moon. It´s a pretty rare expansion, so a friend of mine placed a bid, so that I would not give it away for too little money…

    Crazy! 😉
That are some huge games there. Considered A World At War at some point myself, but ended up getting Unconditional Surrender, which is a more friendly monster I think.
Looking forward to see/read your progress with these games (you could make some kind of dairy?).
    Good luck 😉

    • A lonesome Gamer says:

Yes, this diary idea sounds fun…but it has to wait a little. Right now, I´m tackling Navajo Wars for the third time…
I think in my next holidays, I´m gonna try one of these monsters above.

      • Leobyn says:

Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions about Navajo Wars. I consider myself an expert (not at winning, but knowing how to play). It’s one of my favorites that I play often. I even attempted a video playthrough, though it was my first try, I still had fun playing the game!

        • A lonesome Gamer says:

Thanks for your offer. Again, it´s pretty hard for me to get into the game. I´m playing the tutorial right now, but I don´t have much time these days, so it will probably take a while….

  • Leobyn says:

I’ve heard very good things about Here I Stand, enjoy it!

Too bad about Galaxy Defenders. I really enjoy the game except for the prolonged battles. It really take too many hits to put down the aliens. Perhaps you would find Myth more enjoyable, although its ruleset can be very difficult to learn, mostly due to the poorly written rulebook. However, it’s been re-written as a free download. There’s a lot of expansion coming for it now, but I am finding that I want to spend more time and money on Shadows of Brimstone. I like both games, and they are both very different in mechanics and theme.

Ok, so what are the other games that you purchased, I’m curious to know?

    • A lonesome Gamer says:

Yes, I really wanted to like Galaxy Defenders. Still, I already own a few games wich feel kinda similiar (more or less) like the D&D boardgames, Shadows of Brimstones and Gears of War. So I guess I hold on to these and let GD go. We´ll also see Fire Team Zero, wich might be interesting.
I´m gonna post pictures of the new games as soon as they arrive, but I can promise, these are some real monsters wich you probably would not expect in my collection. So I won´t spoil it here 😉

      • Leobyn says:

You never fail to surprise me my friend, and your collection is one that I envy! I’m interested in Fire Team Zero. I read about the kickstarter. Lots of very nice miniatures! I also liked the story behind the game.

Have you ever tried a Uwe Rosenberg game?

Europa Universalis looks fun. I’ve heard of the PC game but didn’t know there was a board game. Is it a 4x type of game? I’m looking forward to your opinions on the new games you got.

        • A lonesome Gamer says:

I was also close to backing it on KS. I haven´t played a Rosenberg game yet, I think…not the biggest fan of euros anyway.
EU is simply insane…it´s like nothing else. Calandale has done a playthrough of this, consisting of about 40 hours of footage…it´s not a 4x game. It has some unique and fascinating mechanics, wich can be hardly explained in a few lines.

          • Leobyn says:

I will watch his playthrough of EU, but now I am intrigued . . . you got A World at War! This is on my wishlist. I want to do more research into the game before I buy it, as the price is pretty high. Same for Last Chance for Victory. This big war games about WWI and ACW I really enjoy. I hope you share some of your experiences with the game.

  • Phil says:

Oh man, Here I Stand! That game is so fun.

How much are you selling Ghost Stories + expansion for? I’m still looking to pick up a copy of it.
