Polis

Polis is a strategic two player board game, settled in ancient Greece. It covers the conflict between Athens and Sparta from the defeat of Xerxes to the end of the Peleponnesian war. It´s a medium Euro with area control and a strong economic part. The game is absolutely unforgiving: if you make a mistake or a unlucky, your economy will break down, and there´s no way to come back.  If you are short on resources, your options become highly limited and it becomes only harder to generate new resources. It´s all so deeply interwoven, there´s no mercy. I can see the fascination that many people get out of this game, for me it was often a pretty frustrating experience. Often, after two of the four rounds, the winner is basically determined. I do a playthrough here.
